A-Level Results

Fantastic Success for A-Level Students

Students, parents and staff are celebrating another year of superb A-level results.

The overall pass rate increased to 99.6% with an impressive 20% of all results at A* and A. The proportion of A*-B grades was 43% and A*-C 77%.

Across all departments results were strong. Maths and sciences produced outstanding results; with over a quarter of those studying Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Further Maths, Statistics and Computing achieving A* and A grades. More than half of all students studying Fine Art and Economics achieved A*-B grades.

There was considerable success for our highest achieving students. 26% of all students achieved at least one A grade, with eight students securing three A grades or better:

With the strength of these results we anticipate the vast majority of students will be successfully enrolled onto university courses in September. Our students will be going on to  read a diverse range of subjects, including: Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, Computer Science, English Literature, Geography, Law, Mathematics,  Mechanical Engineering, Medicine, Modern History and Politics, Pharmacy, and Theoretical Physics.

Pete Whitehouse, Head of Sixth Form, says:

“I am delighted with the outcomes for our students this year. Once again the top performing students have shown their true potential by producing some of the best individual  results in the country. The year group as a whole have increased their average points score for the fourth year running, something I am immensely proud of.

“Our results show that students of all abilities in The Emmbrook Sixth Form make excellent progress, including our vocational students achieving ‘distinction’ grade on average.

“Any Sixth Form journey is a challenging and potentially stressful, and I am immensely proud to have worked with each of our students as they move on to the next stage of  their lives.”

At AS-level the students achieved the best results we have ever seen. 19% of results were A grade and 42% were A-B grades. We are particularly pleased with these results as  they demonstrate the successful implementation of new AS courses following A-level reform.
