University Trip for Year 12 Maths Students

On Friday 5th July Mr Parry, Miss Horne and Mr Marshall took the students studying maths in year 12 to the University of Portsmouth for a problem solving conference. The event was organised by the Advanced Mathematics Support programme (AMSP) and proved to be very useful for all involved.

During the trip to Portsmouth University the students were given plenty of opportunity to attempt mathematical problems and improve their skills in two sessions, one focusing on the advanced maths challenge and another using the fun maths roadshow.
They also had excellent sessions on setting out their solutions properly and how to tackle university admissions tests.

However, the star of the day was Miss Horne, who impressed a session leader so much with her maths that she earned a gold star!
