The house system has been an integral part of The Emmbrook School since its inception almost 60 years ago. It aims to provide an even greater sense of community and competition as well as a range of new opportunities for students to get involved in school life and try new skills.
Every student in the school is identified within their houses through their school tie which consists of a coloured stripe indicating their house colour.
The school's house system fosters an inclusive and collaborative learning environment, providing opportunities for all students to showcase their talents and passions. Each department within the school hosts at least two competitions annually, encouraging broad participation and engagement from the entire student body. Examples of previous events include sporting clubs, music concerts, drama productions, bake-offs, creative writing competitions and charity events.
The house system is integral to our school community, aligning with our core value of being a ‘family’. It unites students across all year groups, including the sixth form, and provides opportunities for participation in a variety of inter-house competitions organised by different departments.
After a long year of intense inter-house competitions spanning academic challenges, creative pursuits, and sporting events Mercury House has been crowned the overall winner for the 2024-2025 academic year! Their victory was cemented by their consistently high participation across all year groups and a solid, stand-out performance at Sports Day. Crucially, Mercury's commitment to the F.A.I.R. values helped them secure the overall win
