Y10 Continuing Football Success

The unbeaten Year 10 football team celebrate success!

Match report by Harry McBain (Year 10)

Emmbrook’s Year 10 football team have continued their superb winning streak with a wonderful 3-1 win over Waingels. To make this win even more impressive, Waingels hadn’t lost a game this season with those being the only goals they had conceded.

After a strong start with many battles being won and tackles being made defensively, winger Simeon Kensley added to his goal tally with a world-class strike from the edge of the box - from the right into the opposite bottom corner, leaving the keeper no chance!

Going into half time 1-0 up things were looking good for the Emmbrook Boys, a motivational team talk from Mr Tichband put the squad back into a fighting mood to try and get the three points. They started the second half well retaining possession and even getting in a few cheeky nutmegs, courtesy of Bobby Addison!

Not long after, Jack Worsley was brought down in the box after a brilliant through ball and the penalty was given. Skipper Alfie Fullbrook stepped up and in his true style, with no run-up, slotted it into the bottom corner, making it 3 penalties converted in 3 games!

After a collection of super saves from keeper Brayden Smith, a few defensive mistakes led to a sloppy goal conceded by Emmbrook. But that motivated the squad even more and you could see the desire from the team, staff and supporters on the side-line to get the 3 points. It didn’t take long for the boys to respond with a sublime strike from Callum Craig who converted from the back post into the top left-hand corner seizing the game for Emmbrook.

When the final whistle went, there was a cheer from the crowd that had been behind the team right from the off, and a lot of celebrating between the Emmbrook Boys who are now unbeaten in 3 games, scoring 12 goals and only conceding 2. This team is Magic!
