School Uniform
At The Emmbrook School, we believe that a shared uniform helps to create a sense of belonging, pride, and community for all students. An inclusive uniform supports equality by reducing visible differences between pupils and helping everyone feel part of our school community. It also promotes high standards, readiness for learning, and a positive school identity. We rely very much on the co-operation of pupils and parents/carers in helping us to set and maintain these high standards of dress and appearance. These protocols have been developed to be fair, inclusive, and practical, and are aligned with the latest Department for Education (DfE) guidance on school uniform, including expectations relating to equality, affordability, and student wellbeing.

The Halo Code
Our school champions the right of staff and students to embrace all Afro-hairstyles. We acknowledge that Afro-textured hair is an important part of our Black staff and students’ racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious identities, and requires specific styling for hair health and maintenance. We welcome Afro-textured hair worn in all styles including, but not limited to, afros, locs, twists, braids, cornrows, fades, hair straightened through the application of heat or chemicals, weaves, wigs, headscarves, wraps and durags. We also welcome religious hair coverings including, but not limited to, headscarves. We encourage all headscarves, wraps, durags and hair coverings to be in blue and black. At this school, we recognise and celebrate our staff and students’ identities. We are a community built on an ethos of equality and respect where hair texture, style or religious belief have no bearing on anyone's ability to succeed.
